Master Of Puppets

Non-Highlight of the Weekend: On Sunday afternoon I'll be attending a 65th birthday party for a friend's mother.

I don't like parties. I really don't like parties where I'll turn up at about 2pm and everyone will already be drunk. I especially don't like parties where they'll be talking about either a] the value of their houses, b] the relative merits of their shiny cars [males only, usually] and/or c] how well little Quentin did on his SAT results in Key Stage 2 this year.

It does however have free food.

So I'm going anyway.

with apologies to the late Anthony Ainley – it wasn't his fault, apparently -
the producer kept making him do his performance "bigger"

- on which note, Abby in the cafe asked me today: "have we got a new prime minister or something? I keep seeing this advert to Vote Saxon"….

I wouldn't definitively say I like or dislike parties, it depends. What's always puzzled me is those psychometric tests that ask you questions like: "Would you rather go to a party or read a book?" Duh, surely it depends on the type of party or the type of book. A Michael Hesaltine biography versus a press shindig at the Royal Court? Mills and Boon versus a friends' birthday? Or "The History of Post Punk" versus a chain pub in Hemel Hempstead with people who don't give a rats about me?

I was never a party person. I avoid them like the plague. I've been to one in my life and didn't have that great a time since I only knew about four people and didn't feel like drinking/blazing myself into a stupor. I sipped beer and chainsmoked to pass the time.

I don't like other peoples parties. Especially when it's a 'friend of a friend' type thing. I tend to hide and leave as soon as possible. After sampling the free veggie delights of course.
    I also need practise.

Years ago I would be well up for a party but as I got older I found myself worrying about things getting out of hand (and these are other people's parties remember) and would either get pissed in order to relax or stand like a knob frozen in fear. These days a nice DINNER party would be more in my line.

Re: Saxon. There's a fine line between fact and fiction it would seem. Although I bet Brown hasn't got a big sky floaty thing.

LOL Free food can help anyone tolerate an unbearable evening surrounded by pompous assholes. I hope the food was good!

RYC- yeah…I want to limit the negativity flow….You however, are always welcome!

I love the new banner! :-)

  6. Zelesca Says:

Hope you manage to have some fun anyway at the party.
