"Space Is Deep" [And Quite Cheap Too]

Zo and I have been brainstorming about how to expand our sites…

As y'all know, both our sites use the WordPress blogging platform. There's now an edition of it out that supports multiple blogs; the upshot of this is we would be able to offer [for a very small share of the hosting fee] a fully functional blogspace to any of you, without the hassle of having to set up a complete installation for every person. It'd be fairly similar to Xangarse, but without the customised "friends".

The advantages, of course, is greater control over your blog, as well as decent features such as password-protected blogging instead of unwieldy "protected" lists, plus of course ability to use the usual WP customizations and extensions.

We'd only offer this to people we like and trust, so there'd be few security issues; and we'd only offer this to adults, so there'd be less getting uptight about content [not none - we still have to operate within the law.] We'd have to sort out a set of guidelines, but we'd be able operate them on common sense.

Plus, of course, you'd have me and Zo running the ship, and therefore have any issues sorted out by someone that actually reads their bloody emails like what Xangarse don't.

I don't know whether anyone would want to go for this or not, so I'm just floating the idea here; could you please register your interest if you think you might want it? Saying yes wouldn't commit you to anything at all, we're just testing the water right now.

Plus: if we did have our own multi-blog site, what would we call it? Right now, my money's on hoolocks dot com…

    I don't know….

I like the idea of having a site free from the constraints that Xanga and LJ have, but…
I really miss the network of e-friends that I've met on those sites…

While I do mostly blog for me, it is also a social experience…

I'd have to think about it.

    Hoolocks is a nifty name….

    Good name. Jolly sensible idea.

RYC: erm nope it's a friend of mine who's about 4yrs younger than me lol. My mother looks identical to me, with a few bits of aging. I'd have made them clickable were I not fighting so longto upload the damned things.

  3. Zelesca Says:

    Probably not interested.

Thanks for visiting. Guess you liked the pics?
As for your blog site, I don't even put entries up on Xanga…guess I wouldn't here either, assuming it was available.

  5. Kezia Says:

hmmm I would want to know my three regular vistors and one stalker wouldn't overwhelm the site ;-)

I'm entirely useless at updating as it is so it seems like a no this end too. Sound like a good idea though.
    Ryc: Yes, yes it is…
