Scary Monsters [And Super Creeps]

Note: this has been heavily trailed, so it's *not* a spoiler, okay?

It's Sontaran Weekend!

Yep, the all-time number one winner of the "Doctor Who Monster With A Head That Looks Like A Bell-End Awards", 1973-2008.

So today, I'm asking this: What, who, or which program on TV scared the crud out of you when you were a kid?

Also, Associate Scheme just got published on Literotica: go give it a good vote, please?

11 Silly Responses to “Scary Monsters [And Super Creeps]”

  1. Cathy Says:

pfft! My parents never let me watch anything remotely scary!

So, of course, we had to be sneaky. :D I recall watching a zombie movie of some nature that scared the crap out of me… Looking back, it was silly, really. The zombies moved so slowly (as zombies do) that I can't understand why the people didn't just out-run them!
I don't remember the name of the movie, just that it was on really late at night. (and – it would be laugh-worthy now)

  2. Tallulah Says:

Lots of random things that I don't properly recall. I did have a weird film on video called the Snow Spider. Some weird Welsh thing which i remember watching over and over. It was horrifying in places.
    Nightmare city.

  3. Milly Says:

No things, the music and suggestion. Still does. You could stick eerie music in front of a teddy bear's picnic and I'd be digging my nails into my legs.
'The Amazing Mr Blunden' scared me senseless, but it still I *really* wanted to watch it many times.

  4. Max Says:

Er, 999 with Michael Beurk?? There was just something about it….the dramatic music and the way an "innocent family stroll" always ended in near-fatal disaster.
(I can't believe I admitted that in public, but there we go….every time Brooker alludes to his fear of public information films it makes me want to dance with glee….I *was* always infinitely more scared by factual documentaries than by fiction, which I always knew *was* just fiction).

  5. Max Says:

(Just realised I've totally showed my age there. N'emind).

  6. Zoe Says:

    Ooooh, Watership Down.

Randomly although I wasn't scared per se, I would never watch The Snowman…

  7. T Says:

Bits of Red Dwarf – anyone remember polymorph? (http://www.reddwarf.co.uk/episodes/polymorph ) but I was just a wee young thing back then, so I can be rightly scared.

  8. Ang Says:

Century Falls. It was on when I was about eleven and it got very intense as the series worse on; lately I've seen an interview where RTD himself feels that it was probably a bit much for the age-group it was aimed at. Of course, that hasn't stopped me from downloading it from a friend recently. :D

  9. Zelesca Says:

Unsolved Mysteries – episode about aliens.

  10. Ang Says:

RYC: Cheers, I'll keep that in mind!

Also, do keep an eye on my available books list and let me know if you see anything(s) you like, as I've been meaning to find you something from Mt. Enormous-Stack-of-Books for a while… I seem to remember you have a birthday coming up? :D

Anyway, the list is a bit sparse at the mo, but there might be a couple of things of interest there, and stuff gets added as I work my way through the pile.

The Singing Ringing Tree – frightened me to death: especially the dwarf.
Of course I was always behind the couch when Dr Who came on – that theme tune sent (and still does) a shiver up my spine.
